AFCON 3-Day Safari: The Complete Tanzania and Kenya Experience (2027)
The trip combines a stay in Kenya for an AFCON match with a short safari in northern Tanzania. To make the most of the available time, the plan focuses on Nairobi and Tarangire National Park rather than trying to cover several destinations in three days.
Duration: 3 days / 2 nights Countries: Kenya and Tanzania Football experience: AFCON match in Kenya, subject to the confirmed fixture schedule and ticket availability Safari destination: Tarangire National Park, Tanzania Travel style: Fast-paced, with an international flight and road transfers

Day 1: Arrival in Kenya and AFCON match experience
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, take some time to rest and prepare for the day’s activities.
If your arrival time matches the selected AFCON fixture, you can head to the stadium to watch the game. Allow sufficient time for traffic, security checks and entry procedures. The match will depend on the official tournament schedule, so the itinerary should be adjusted to fit the fixture you choose.
If you arrive too late for a match, spend the evening relaxing at the hotel and prepare for the early journey to Tanzania the next day.
Overnight: Nairobi, Kenya.
Meals: Depending on arrival time and hotel arrangements.
Day 2: Fly to Tanzania and enjoy a Tarangire safari
After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania.
On arrival, meet your safari guide and drive towards Tarangire National Park. The road transfer takes several hours, so an early flight is essential to allow time for an afternoon game drive.
Tarangire is known for its elephant herds, baobab trees and open grasslands. During the drive, you may see giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and a variety of bird species. Wildlife sightings depend on the season, weather and animal movements.
Your guide will choose suitable routes based on the time available. Since this is a short safari, the aim is to enjoy the main wildlife areas without rushing from one destination to another.
In the late afternoon, leave the park and continue to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Overnight: Tarangire area, Tanzania.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, depending on your selected package.
Day 3: Morning game drive and departure
Your guide will search for elephants, giraffes, zebras and antelope while explaining the area’s wildlife and landscape. If conditions are favourable, you may also encounter predators such as lions, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
After the game drive, begin the transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. The journey takes several hours, so the departure flight must be booked late enough to allow for the drive and airport check-in.
If your flight leaves early in the morning, the game drive may not be practical. In that case, an earlier departure or a different flight arrangement should be planned before booking.
Meals: Breakfast, with other meals depending on your departure time.
Departure airport: Kilimanjaro International Airport, Tanzania.

AFCON 3-Day Safari Important information for AFCON 2027
AFCON 2027 is scheduled for 19 June to 17 July 2027 and will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The final tournament venues and match schedule should be checked with the official organisers before travel is confirmed.
This three-day itinerary is very short, so the match location and flight times are important. It works best when the selected match fits the arrival day and the flight to Tanzania leaves early the following morning. Travellers should also confirm entry requirements for both countries and leave enough time for airport transfers.
For a smoother trip, book the accommodation, flights and safari transport together where possible. If the match is held in Tanzania rather than Kenya, the itinerary can be rearranged to reduce travel time.
This three-day package is intended for football supporters who want a brief safari alongside AFCON. It offers a taste of Tanzania’s wildlife, but travellers who want longer game drives or visits to more than one national park should consider a four- or five-day trip.
