Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Welcome to Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your safari representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. After a long flight, the rest of the day is set aside for relaxing and preparing for the safari.

Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy the lodge gardens, take in views of Mount Meru or visit a local coffee shop. Later, your safari guide will explain the driving arrangements and what to expect during your wildlife adventures.

Dinner will be served at the lodge, giving you time to settle in before the journey into the national parks begins.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Overnight at Serian Tarangire Camp · Full board

After breakfast, leave Arusha and drive towards Tarangire National Park. The journey takes you through the countryside, with views of farms, villages and open landscapes along the way.

On arrival, begin your game drive through a park known for its large elephant herds, impressive baobab trees and the Tarangire River. During the dry months, the river and remaining water sources attract many animals, making this an excellent place to look for elephants, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes and antelopes.

Your guide will help you search for predators such as lions and leopards, while also pointing out birds and smaller animals that are easy to miss without an experienced eye.

Stop for a picnic lunch in a designated area before continuing with the afternoon game drive. Later, travel to Serian Tarangire Camp to relax, enjoy dinner and spend the evening surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

Day 3: Tarangire to the Ngorongoro Highlands

Enjoy breakfast before setting out for a final morning game drive in https://www.tarangiretanzania.com/, depending on the schedule and park arrangements. This is another opportunity to see animals that may not have appeared during the previous afternoon’s drive.

Afterwards, continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenery gradually changes as you travel from the drier lowlands into cooler highland country. You may pass Maasai settlements and see cattle grazing in the open grasslands.

Arrive at Naserian Safari Camp, subject to confirmation of the accommodation arrangements, and settle in. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at camp or enjoying the surrounding highland scenery.

Your guide will also brief you about the following day’s crater visit, including the early departure, wildlife viewing and the importance of following conservation rules inside the protected area.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – A Full Day of Wildlife Viewing

Start early with breakfast before driving to the Ngorongoro Crater descent road. The journey down to the crater floor opens up wonderful views of one of Tanzania’s most remarkable natural landscapes.

Spend the day exploring the crater in a 4×4 safari vehicle. The grasslands, woodland, wetlands and Lake Magadi support a wide range of wildlife. Look for lions, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, wildebeest and hippos. With luck, you may also spot the endangered black rhinoceros.

Your guide will choose the route according to wildlife movements and the conditions of the day. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised site before the game drive continues.

The crater is also a good place to observe birdlife, including flamingos when conditions are suitable, as well as eagles, storks and other waterbirds.

In the afternoon, ascend to the crater rim and return to camp. Enjoy dinner and a relaxed evening after a rewarding day in the wilderness.

Day 5: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park

Overnight at Olkarien Eco Safari Lodge or a suitable Acacia Serengeti camp · Full board

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, travelling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The route passes open grasslands, rocky outcrops and wide landscapes where wildlife may be seen along the way.

Once inside the Serengeti, begin your game drive across the plains. The park is home to large populations of wildebeest and zebras, as well as giraffes, elephants, hyenas, lions and cheetahs. Leopards are sometimes seen resting in trees along riverbanks.

The Serengeti’s scenery changes from open grassland to woodland and river valleys. Your guide will select suitable areas to explore based on recent wildlife sightings and the location of your camp.

Arrive at your Acacia Collection accommodation later in the day. Olkarien Eco Safari Lodge is an option in central Serengeti, while Enkirari Wilderness Camp or Enkutoto Migration Camp may suit different locations and seasonal plans, depending on availability.

Enjoy dinner at camp and spend the evening listening to the sounds of the wilderness.

Day 6: Full-Day Serengeti Safari – Wildlife and Migration Adventures

Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti. After an early breakfast, set out for a morning game drive while the weather is cool and many animals are active.

The central Serengeti, particularly the Seronera area, is known for its resident wildlife and river systems. Search for lions resting after a hunt, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants moving between feeding areas and hippos gathered in pools.

Depending on the season and your camp’s location, your guide may take you towards areas where migrating wildebeest and zebras are gathering. The Great Migration moves through different parts of the ecosystem during the year, so sightings depend on rainfall, grazing conditions and animal movements.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, or return to camp for lunch if the day’s arrangements allow. Continue with an afternoon game drive, stopping to photograph wildlife and appreciate the enormous open landscapes.

For an additional experience, you may arrange a hot-air-balloon safari, subject to availability, weather conditions and an extra charge. Some camps may also offer sundowners or bush dining, depending on the package.

Return to camp in the evening for dinner and your final night under the Serengeti sky.

Day 7: Serengeti Morning Game Drive and Departure

Wake up early for a final game drive if your departure schedule permits. The early morning light creates beautiful conditions for photography, and you may see animals moving across the plains before the heat of the day.

Return to camp for breakfast, collect your belongings and prepare for departure.

Option 1 – Fly to Arusha: Transfer to the appropriate Serengeti airstrip for a scheduled flight, subject to availability. This is the more convenient choice for travellers connecting with a domestic or international journey.

Option 2 – Return by road: Travel back towards Arusha, enjoying the changing scenery along the way. This option takes longer, so it is best suited to guests with enough time before their onward flight.

Your safari arrangements end with a transfer to the agreed airport or accommodation. If you have extra days, you can extend your holiday with a Mount Kilimanjaro excursion, a cultural visit or a relaxing beach stay in Zanzibar.

Dry season adventures – June to October

This is a popular period for safari holidays, with generally drier conditions, easier travel on many tracks and good opportunities to find wildlife around water sources.

• Good wildlife viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater.

• Strong general game viewing across the Serengeti.

• Possible Great Migration river crossings in northern Serengeti, depending on the herds’ movements.

Green season adventures – November to May

The landscape becomes greener following the rains, with fresh grass, changing skies and excellent opportunities for birdwatching. Rainfall varies, and some tracks can become muddy.
