When you stay at Under the Shade Safari Lodge, you're in a good location to enjoy this leg of your trip..
We think you’ll be impressed with Tarangire National Park. Most visitors love the distinct shapes of the baobab trees silhouetted against the sky that make this place feel like a fairy-tale African landscape. Or visitors remember the elephants that roam in family bands everywhere throughout the park. If you’re lucky, you’ll also encounter the big cats – lions especially, but also cheetahs and leopards – that are always a possibility here. Andwildebeest, giraffe, hippo, buffalo and zebra off your wildlife-viewing list.
Tucked away from busy safari trails yet close to both Mto Wa Mbu and Lake Manyara National Park,Suricata Boma Lodge is your excellent base in the area. It's one of few places around Lake Manyara to take advantage of a lakeside position, and everything is good here, from simple bungalow-style rooms to the restaurant, swimming pool and bar.

Discover just why so many safari visitors fall in love with the Serengeti. Keep an eye out for big cats, even bigger elephants, and almost every kind of safari wildlife you can imagine. You might also see giraffe, impala, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hundreds of species of birds, and that may all just be before breakfast. You’ll never forget watching these animals interact, whether you see a hunt, a vast herd or a mother protecting her cub or calf. The Serengeti’s scenery is also unforgettable – observe Africa’s iconic acacia trees, the park’s golden grasslands and great piles of boulders known as kopjes. Ngorongoro Highlands Temperatures are lovely and cool in Ngorongoro Highlands, which is perfect for exploring the forests, and seeing the wildlife (elephant, buffalo and maybe even leopard) and views.
It's difficult not to fall in love with Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp. Amid classic Serengeti landscapes of savannah grasslands and acacia trees, this luxury tented camp has large and lovely safari tents. The use of wood (the floorboards, the wooden chests and more) and canvas makes the experience feel like the safaris of old, and you might even hear the Serengeti's lions roaring in the night. Enjoy the dining tent and excellent service too.

You’ll get to know the Serengeti and its colorful cast of characters even better with another day immersed in its wild beauty.

You never forget the first time you see Ngorongoro Crater from above. Looking out from the rim of this extraordinary volcanic crater is like gazing down upon a lost world of wildlife and astonishing beauty. The drive down into the crater will be just as special, taking you down onto the crater floor where nature rules and no human being may pass the night. You'll spend the best part of a day exploring this remarkable place, seeing its lions, hyenas, black rhinos, elephants, flamingos and so much more. And when it comes time to leave, you'll keep looking back over your shoulder trying to hold these experiences in your memory.
Close to Karatu, between Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, Farm of Dreams Lodge offers welcome respite from busy African roads. Spread across ample, green grounds with manicured lawns and palm trees, there's a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The well-sized rooms combine wood, terracotta and safari prints, and all have mosquito nets and en suite bathrooms.

Lake Manyara is a world-class wildlife-viewing destination, and it offers you some really special safari experiences. For a start, it has one of the few lion populations in Africa which are known to climb trees. It's also famous for its elephants, and it's not unusual to drive along a forest track only to have to stop suddenly to allow an elephant family to pass. The setting is similarly superb, with the park's thin, but dense strip of forest wedged between a bird- rich lake and the steep cliffs of the Rift Valley escarpment.

Between Moshi and Mt Kilimanjaro, Materuni Waterfalls is a popular place to visit. It's one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Tanzania, especially after rains when lots of water cascades down off the cliff in an area surrounded by forest. Watch for Mt Kilimanjaro to appear above Moshi’s rooftops to the north – the best time is usually when the clouds clear in the early morning or late afternoon. Moshi is quieter than Arusha and is a pleasant place to stroll with good shops, restaurants and bustling markets. This is where your safari in Tanzania will end. We hope that you have had the most fabulous trip and we can't wait to help you plan your next safari.
