AFCON 4-Day Safari: The Complete Tanzania and Kenya Experience (2027)
This four-day itinerary combines the excitement of AFCON 2027 with a short wildlife safari in Tanzania. It is designed for travellers who want to attend a football match and experience an African national park without taking a long holiday.
The trip includes time in Kenya for the tournament, followed by a flight to Tanzania for a safari in Tarangire National Park. The plan is kept simple to make the most of the limited time available.
AFCON 2027 is scheduled to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda serving as co-hosts. The final match schedule and venue assignments should be confirmed before flights and accommodation are booked.

-
Safari destination: Tarangire National Park
-
Transport: Private transfers, scheduled flight and 4×4 safari vehicle

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi and AFCON experience
Depending on your arrival time and the match schedule, you can attend an AFCON match on this day or use the time to settle in and prepare for the following day’s activities. If a match is planned, the transfer will be arranged around the kick-off time, allowing enough time for traffic and stadium security checks.
AFCON is expected to bring supporters from across the continent to East Africa. You will have an opportunity to experience the tournament atmosphere and enjoy the excitement surrounding one of Africa’s biggest football events.
After the match or your afternoon activities, return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Overnight: Nairobi.
Meals: Depending on your arrival time and accommodation package.
Note: The match must be selected according to the official fixture list. Match tickets are subject to availability.
Day 2: Fly from Kenya to Tanzania and safari in Tarangire National Park
On arrival, meet your safari guide and continue by road to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes several hours, so an early flight is important if you want to enjoy an afternoon game drive.
Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and wildlife that gathers around the Tarangire River, particularly during the dry season. During the afternoon drive, you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and a variety of bird species.
Your guide will select suitable routes based on the time available and recent wildlife sightings. Since this is a short safari, the focus will be on making the most of the afternoon rather than covering the entire park.
Later in the day, transfer to your lodge or tented camp near the park. Dinner will be served at the accommodation.
Overnight: Tarangire area.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, depending on the selected package.
Day 3: Morning game drive in Tarangire National Park
The early hours are a good time to explore the park, when wildlife may be active and the temperatures are generally cooler. Your guide will look for elephants, giraffes, antelope, zebras and other animals along the river areas and open grasslands.
Tarangire’s landscape includes woodland, open plains and scattered baobab trees. Depending on the season, you may also see predators such as lions, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
After several hours of wildlife viewing, return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the accommodation or enjoying an additional game drive if your schedule and park arrangements allow.
This day gives you time to enjoy the safari without adding another long road transfer between national parks.
Overnight: Tarangire area.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the accommodation package.
Day 4: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport and departure
After breakfast, leave the Tarangire area and travel by road to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
The drive takes several hours, depending on the location of your accommodation and road conditions. Your departure should be booked with enough time for the transfer and airport check-in. An afternoon or evening flight is generally more practical than an early morning departure.
If you are returning home after the safari, you can arrange an international flight from Kilimanjaro. Travellers continuing to another destination may need a connecting flight, depending on their travel plans.
This marks the end of your four-day AFCON and Tanzania safari experience.
Meals: Breakfast.
Departure airport: Kilimanjaro International Airport, Tanzania.
